I remember converting my project and getting all these errors right away which seemed too much to manually fix, but after just chugging away at it I ended up cleaning it up in a decent amount of time.
#How to download unity 4.6 free
You probably won't use the new features (unless you were using Unity Free before) but you're going to be stuck without it. If you've invested a lot of time and effort into this game, I honestly suggest you do convert to Unity 5. The other browsers still support it but most likely they will remove support eventually as well. How long have you been working on this game? AFAIK NPAPI support has only been removed from Chrome (and it's been removed for some time now, surprised you haven't noticed?). There are some current annoyances with it though where one of them being that the build times for WebGL are insanely long so testing can be a huge nuisance. Some games have successfully been completed with it though so it is possible. Just so you are aware, even the WebGL in Unity 5 is still considered a "Preview" and not an officially supported platform for Unity yet because it is still in development. But even with the automated script there will still probably be some changes you have to make.
#How to download unity 4.6 code
Some of it can be fixed automatically when you open your project in Unity 5 where it runs an automated script to do some code conversions (you should always make a backup before this). There were some decent changes in Unity 5. Manually revisiting all my code and changing the way things work, when they already work in Unity 4.6, for no money, is extraordinarily frustrating and my absolute last resort. I'm just so reluctant to do this Unity 5 stuff because I'm not getting paid to make this game, I just want it to be done and I would like to be able to put it on my website one day as part of a portfolio. I'm not asking people to Google it for me, I will do that myself, but if you happen to know off the top of your head it would be cool. Will I just have to suck it up and manually find and fix all of these mysterious problems? If so, does anybody know of a list out there that may detail the specifics of what functions have been changed or will no longer work? I've found official Unity posts in paragraph format just discussing new features and everything but I haven't found it very helpful. It seems to work, but then I get problems with the game executing differently than it did in 4.6. Is there some solution I can download that would let me build a Unity 4.6 game for WebGL? I don't know nearly enough about creating builds because this is my first time so I have no idea how reasonable this question is.Īm I maybe converting to Unity 5 incorrectly in a way that would cause things to break? I've been copying the project folder into my Unity 5 Projects folder, opening it in Unity 5, and having Unity 5 convert it (where it asks you if you've made a backup). So if somebody could provide insight in one of these areas and maybe point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it: My game just runs differently in Unity 5, and it doesn't work. Some functions just don't seem to get called, and I don't even get so much as an error message. Here's my problem: I have tried copying my project over to Unity 5, but it doesn't really work in Unity 5. I don't know anything about WebGL but it seems like you need to be on Unity 5 to make a WebGL build. But since Chrome and eventually the other web browsers are not going to support Unity Web Player anymore, people are saying this "WebGL" thing is the solution.
